My one twin daughter (4 yrs) awoke with a huge fever. I gave her some meds (paracetamol and disprin). A while later she was still trembling and I then went on my knees to pray for her.
When she saw this she picked up her trembling body and kneeled down next to me then her twin sister kneels on my other side too. Sweet, I think to myself smiling at this scene.
I then ask Jesus to heal her so she can enjoy this wonderful day and as soon as I said Amen, her fever was gone and she was playing with her sister.
Scripture is so true... If you believe without doubt then anything is possible. Wow, it made me feel like a desciple.
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI like your zeal and I read your articles with interest. New Christians rock!
I thought about what you wrote for a few days and I have a question. You said, "If you believe without doubt then anything is possible."
What about Steven in Acts 7? Did he lack faith? The text says, "And cast [him] out of the city, and stoned [him]: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [God], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep."
Other early church Christians suffered similar hardships. Was there something lacking on their part?
Keep writing, keep reading and keep abiding,
Mark
Hi again brother. I don't understand. What makes you think he lacked faith?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you must be aware of this. What would you have done if your child didn't improve after the prayer? Praying man lets his daughter die. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8180116.stm . Some so-called religious people really scare me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting... You see I still have medication that I always keep at hand for fevers, colds, flu's etc.
ReplyDeleteYou see the Bible (Matthew) says that man cannot live on bread alone. It does not say that man must not eat at all, because you will surely become weak. Remember that the flesh is weak without nutrition and it is usually malnutrition that cause illness in the first place.
So one should give the body what it needs and pray that the Lord will nurish us with what he has provided. There are many cases where medication does not and when people turn to prayer, the sick become healthy and this I have seen with my own eyes.
The other thing is that I do not know how strong the guy who's daughter died was in his faith when he prayed for her. You may argue that he was studying to become a minister, but I know of many ministers who do not believe completely in the healing power of the Lord and with this they have certain doubts.
The bible makes it very clear that if you have no doubt at all (not even a pinch) whatever you ask for in prayer, you will receive.
Unanswered prayer could be due to many reasons: lack of faith; claiming to be a man of God, but still participate in the deeds of the wicked (and I know of ministers who do this)... the list goes on.
Scripture says that the prayers of a truly righteous man can achieve much. So if you do not live a righteous life according to God's Word and you think that going to church regularly or even becoming a pastor is going to get your prayers answered, think again... then you still have much to learn...
